Jennifer C. Harrington
Practices exclusively in the area of family law. Her firm, Jennifer C. Harrington, P.A., is AV rated. She received her J.D. in 1989 from the University of Florida and her B.A. in 1982 from the University of Central Florida. Ms. Harrington is the past Chair of the Family Law Section Continuing Legal Education Committee and is a past member of the Family Law Section Executive Council. She is a former member of the Family Law Rules Committee and was appointed in 2003 to the Legal Needs of Children Committee. She has prepared and presented seminars for the Florida Bar including the Trial Advocacy Seminar, the Children’s Issues Seminar and Attorney’s Fee Seminars. Prior to practicing exclusively in the area of family law, Ms. Harrington was an Assistant State Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit in Fort Myers, Florida. She was a supervisor in the Major Crimes Division preparing and litigated Capital Murder Death Penalty cases. In addition to the Florida Bar, she is a member of the Federal Middle District of Florida, and the Clearwater Bar Association. In 2016 Ms. Harrington completed training in Collaborative Law.
Cherrie Bottie, Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Cherrie obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from New York University and is also a graduate of The Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. She started her legal career with a large law firm on Park Avenue in New York City as private legal secretary to one of its senior partners concentrating in the areas of business and corporate law. Following her move to Largo, Florida, Cherrie joined Robert J. McDermott’s practice specializing in estate planning, family law, and foreclosures. She left the private sector to move to Clearwater and start her family. During this time, she was instrumental in establishing the first Legal Secretary Association in the area and helped to develop the standards in the paralegal program. Cherrie continued her career as a legal professional with a small law firm in Clearwater where she worked for 17 years as office manager and paralegal to Attorney Charles R. Hilleboe whose areas of practice included estate planning, trusts and estates, guardianship, adoptions, and business law. Upon moving to Atlanta, Georgia, Cherrie worked as office manager and lead paralegal for a small firm which was absorbed into a well-established, prominent mid-sized firm in Buckhead where she worked in family law under Attorney Peter Rivner, probate and estate under senior partner, Donald B. DeLoach, and probate litigation under senior partner, Judge Floyd E. Propst. Cherrie returned to the Clearwater area in 2018 and joined the law firm of Jennifer C. Harrington P.A. bringing with her over 30 years of legal proficiency, expertise and experience. Cherrie is usually the client’s first contact with the office and is ready to great them with knowledge and understanding.
